our story

“It was July 3rd, 2020. I was visiting friends in Saratoga Springs for the fourth. Sasha was finishing his fellowship about 30 minutes away at Albany Medical Center. As Sasha will gladly tell you, he messaged me multiple times before I responded, and I’m so happy that he did. Of course, I eventually responded, and his persistence continued; one week later, he asked me if he could drive down to Brooklyn to have our first ‘in-person’ date, and I said yes. We spent the next three years traveling back and forth between NYC and Albany, then NYC and Pennsylvania. During that time, we traveled to destinations worldwide, spent holidays together, and met each other’s families and friends. In April 2023, we moved in together, made it through the hell of integrating three cats, and made our apartment a home.”

Our story began like so many millennial love stories; online. After hours of swiping in every direction on multiple apps, I was starting to lose hope, but it was Fourth of July weekend, and I had nothing better to do. I wasn’t expecting to find anyone, but then I saw it…the perfect smile. I couldn’t get over it and had to shoot my shot. It turns out he was visiting some friends in the area and was looking for a distraction from the upstate politics. After some small talk and a thorough vetting process by Eric, we set up our first long-distance COVID Zoom date. After several more online conversations, we were both hooked, and before long, I was driving from Albany to Brooklyn to see that perfect smile in person. The rest is history.
